Welcome to the Clare Valley

This is a place to relax, unwind and soak up the good life. Wind your way through a cluster of villages and wineries, nestled in a picturesque valley. Marvel at the patchwork of pristine farmland, admire the elegant rows of vines and be inspired by the natural beauty of the region.

Just an hour and a half from Adelaide, the secluded Clare Valley is an enchanting journey. Behind every corner, there is a new discovery.

The region is all about experiencing. You can cycle the famed ‘Riesling Trail’, a 32km corridor, linking quaint towns, restaurants and wineries; or take a step back in time with a trip to Burra, a township famed for its mining heritage.

If history intrigues, take a fascinating exploration into the lives of South Australia's wealthy gentry during the late 1800s with a trip to the majestic Martindale Hall or Bungaree Station, both grand homesteads with stately surrounds.

Or, if nature calls, the Clare Valley is a paradise of natural bushland, and Australian flora and fauna. Red Banks Conservation Park or Spring Gully Conservation Park are a must.

Life in the Clare Valley is truly entwined with the vine. The region boasts more than 40 wineries, some operating out of farm sheds and rustic buildings. It’s a region where wine blends effortlessly with history, art, food, relaxation and even exercise.

Throughout the year, the Clare Valley stages a number of great events, from classic country shows and friendly race meets to gourmet food and wine extravaganzas. The real drawcards on the calendar include the annual Clare Valley Gourmet Weekend, held each May for over 30 years, the lively Clare Valley Easter Races and the Burra Picnic Races.
